Wiki so far

My idea for the wiki is to add something related to banking and mobile payments. I have stumbled across the amazing technology called Level Up, that is quickly being implemented in fast casual restaurants throughout the city. I have been reading up on it as well as speaking to the customers who use it and the restaurant managers who implement it at their stores, just to get more insight into the technology. I think the QR code technology is fascinating and I can't wait to expand further on it for the wiki!

    Techonlogy is indeed changing how we operate especially now it's being used in the banking system which should make banking use and activities more simple and easy to use.

    QR code technology is fascinating. i did notice when watching some Chinese TV shows that they use it as a payment method for like everything. it could be for donations for charity or just buying everyday stuff. The Chinese use it more than Americans but there are companies like Amazon who is using Amazon cash in their popup stores which implement the QR code technology.

    I agree with you QR code technology is truly amazing. It is able to cut tons of time researching and finding information regarding something. I think QR codes should be incorporated into all products we buy on a daily bases so we are able to research them at the time of purchase much quicker. We walk around with a mobile device on a daily basis so with a click of a button we would be able to find any information within seconds. I think manufacturer will be incorporating them on their products in near future.

I think the next type of new media will be centered around eyeglasses. I think Virtual and Augmented Reality will be developed to the point that there are able to be implemented in "Smart" eyeglasses. These glasses will be able to project an augmented reality onto what you see to project things like maps and Search. Media platforms like Facebook and Snapchat will be built into it so when you turn on Facebook through your glasses, your friends are able to see what you see. I am not sure how popular it would be but I feel like that would catch on in the beginning in a world where people are trying to share more and more of their lives on social media. It can serve as a way to capture images and videos without having your phone out trying to capture everything on the fly.

How New Media is Influencing the Growth of Basketball

My research topic for the term paper is about how new media has impacted and is currently impacting basketball,  specifically the NBA.  I plan to look into the different new media outlets and see how it is being used to promote the game of basketball. I am also interested in seeing how the NBA is using new media to promote their brand and how "unknown" players are using these outlets to gain a following. There are many media companies that use these new media outlets to further the game of basketball. I hope to be in contact with someone working in the space at a company like ESPN or BleacherReport so I can get some insight on their role and how new media has affected their coverage of basketball.
